What is CSAHA? CSAHA is Colorado Springs Amateur Hockey Association. It has several levels of play to offer to youth players. There is the Travel division, House division, Girls division, the 8 and under program and last but, not least the Pike’s Peak Miners (Midget Major AAA). The season runs for about six months. Usually starting late Aug and finishes up in mid March. Registration is usually accepted as late as October IF there is still room to place any players. The league does fill quickly and it is highly advisable to get registered as soon as possible each season.

The Travel division has tryouts for team placement usually towards the end of August each year. The players that do not qualify for a travel team are eligible to play on a house team. The age groups for these players range from Squirts (9-10) through Midgets (16-18). This is a competitive division which competes in everything from state wide tournaments to out of state tournaments.
The House division hosts an evaluation period. The Evaluation period usually takes place during the month of September each year. This process is done to place ALL players on a team. The process is designed to, as efficiently as possible, create as equal a playing field for all of the teams. The House division is considered a NON-competitive learning league that provides players as equal ice time as possible regardless of ability. The House division has a combination of beginner players and experienced players. The age groups for these players range from Squirts (9-11) through Midgets (16-18). The House division does NOT travel. The House division only plays games here in Colorado Springs, with the exception of the House All-star team. This is a separate competitive team that is formed every year prior to the Colorado Cup Tournament. This tournament is held during the Winter Holiday break, or Martin Luther King weekend, depending on your level of play. This is a COMPETITIVE team and, with the parents and coaching staffs approval after the Colorado Cup Tournament is complete, may choose to travel to compete in other tournaments or scrimmages either throughout the state or outside the state. This is an extra cost and the level of play does change and the players are NO LONGER guaranteed to play in every game or get equal ice time.
Our 8 &Under Program will support C/D Jamboree teams that will compete at out-of-city Jamborees and A/B/C/D House teams that will compete internally and in the Hockey Madness tournament held at the end of the season. The 8 & under program will continue to focus on improving player development. Evaluations are very similar to the House league. They participate in a cross-ice program. Cross-ice is one sheet of ice that is divided into three sections. Two ends are utilized for practice while the middles section is utilized for developmental games. A & B levels are basically the 5/6-year group and C & D levels are the 7/8-year-old group. The initial consideration will be age. Players will be moved around within the 8 and Under program as needed based on their skills. Players will be evaluated on their skill level.
The CSAHA Girls program currently supports three teams: U12, U14, and U19 (U stands for under). The teams participate in the Mountain States Girls Hockey League (MSGHL), playing teams from all over Colorado and now one from New Mexico. In addition to their league games, they play in tournaments whenever possible, some in state and some out of state.
The Pikes Peak Miners are the flagship program under the umbrella of Colorado Springs Amateur Hockey Association. The Miners organization prides itself on not only developing hockey players, but also capable students and determined young men. It is the Miners' goal to prepare our players for the challenges that lie ahead in hockey, in academia, and in lifethrough discipline, hard work, and determination. The Pikes Peak Miners are a Midget AAA Hockey Club. They began competing at a Tier I level with the opportunity to compete at elite national and international tournaments. The Pike Peak Miners have experienced success as a team. The Pikes Peak Miners use air travel as its primary means of transportation. Because of the Miners highly competitive schedule, the team routinely travels to most of the hockey hot spots in the US and Canada. The Miners will use bus transportation when the situation warrants. Non-Resident players are housed with families from the Colorado Springs community. Often these are families from the local hockey program who volunteer to take in a Student-athlete for the hockey season. For more information on the Pikes Peak Miners please see their website at PikesPeakMiners.com. So when you see this logo you’ll now know you’re seeing a Miner and they belong to us.
