Play Hockey In Colorado Springs
What is CSAHA? CSAHA stands for Colorado Springs Amateur Hockey Association. We have several levels of play to offer youth players. We have a Travel division, House division, Girls division, an 8 and under program, and a Tier I AAA program (Pikes Peak Miners). The season runs for about six months, beginning in late August and finishing up in mid March. Registration is usually accepted as late as October IF there is still room to place any players. Our registration numbers do fill up quickly and it is highly advisable to get registered as soon as possible each season. The Colorado Springs Amateur Hockey Association is in excellent standing with USA Hockey and we in strong support of the American Development Model as it is outlined here: http://www.usahockey.com/ADM/default.aspx?NAV=AF&ID

Our 8 & Under Program CSAHA’s 8 yrs old & Under Program (8U) continues to focus on improving player skill development and having fun. The Program consists of three levels which are age and skill based. 8U will support Advanced level teams that will compete at out-of-city Jamboree tournaments as well as local House type games. 8U also has an Intermediate/Beginner level house division that will compete internally and in the Hockey Madness tournament held at the end of the season. Evaluations are very similar to those in the House Division. Teams participate in cross-ice program practices with one sheet of ice that is divided into three sections. The two ends of the ice sheet are utilized for practice while the middle ice section is utilized for games which are skill development based. In House game days utilize half ice games within each level.

The Beginner level is basically the 5/6-year-old group, Intermediate levels is the 6/7-year-old group and the Advanced level is 7/8 yr olds. In placing players on a team, the initial consideration will be the player’s age and skill level. Players will be moved around within the 8U program as needed to balance teams based on the player’s skills. Players will be evaluated on their skill level. See the “U8 ADM” link on the CSAHA website.

You can play the full season, or elect to play just for first or second half of the season. Season 1 ends in January and Season 2 starts in january. You can sign up for any session at any time of the year.
